fabric scrappin'

Where do your extra fabric scraps go? I decided to sew a little Sunday afternoon project with some of my accumulating scrap mound.

Cut your strips to the desired length and width. Sew each fabric strip to a mate, one by one. Make sure right sides are together. Use a quarter of an inch seam allowance. Keep sewing strips until desired project length/width. Press.

Pin to batting. Quilt. Use a fancy swirly twirly stitch on your machine. Or... keep 'em straight.

Pin your chosen lining to your sewed scraps&batting. Again, right sides of fabric together. Place lace in the path of your stitch to create "ties". Stitch-- small seam allowance, leaving an opening to turn your project right side out.

Turn. Press. Topstitch outer edges ensuring closure to the small opening where you turned right side out.

Snuggle your Nook inside. Tie the lovely lace ties.

I'm [thinking] of sewing a scrap quilt. Thoughts, ideas, warnings?

Another successful Sewing Sunday under the belt.
Better go finish the laundry.
